I am a straw in the haystack...
You know what scares me about the future? How you just do not know what'll happen. No matter how much you prepare, or avoid, there are things that will happen that you never planned on. I guess if I had to zone in on a specific part about the future, I would say marriage. Maybe this thought process stemmed partly from my Did you know? factoid for yesterday, but also from other things. Like knowing people who have gotten divorced, seeing people not happy in their marriages, all of that. I mean, no one in their right mind thinks, "I wanna get into a relationship/marriage that ends in divorce." I mean, I think I'm one of those "Love conquers all" type people...in a realistic manner. But in all these cases of divorce/separation/what have you, I'm sure most of them totally loved each other. But there are certain things that are completely unaccounted for at times, in which the couple, either partly or as a whole, just cannot deal with. Let's see, the national divorce rate is currently what, 60%? That's more than one of every two marriages...that's so frickin sad! Do people just not think things all the way through nowadays? Should the "..til death do us part" be ommitted from the wedding vows altogether now? Becuase 6/10 couples obviously disregard that part. And like I said, at times, there are circumstances that are just too overwhelming to deal with, like cheating, abuse, things of that nature. But so often, I just hear about people who were unhappy. Or it wasn't what they thought it was gonna be? I mean, what the heck is that about? In my age where everyone around me is getting married, and hopefully I will one day too, I would like to think that things will not go sour as they so often seem to do...
Did you know?
